the new fishing watch

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2021.08.06

I bought a new fishing watch for 2200 yen. It's a Casio, like my MDV-106 (Duro), but it's smaller, lighter, less bulky, and better suited to the hazards of fishing. I also ordered a screen protector, because my old fishing watch also had a cheap mineral crystal and it was badly scratched in no time at all - to the point that if wet or under certain oblique lighting I couldn't read the Duro at all.

Casio W-218H

At this point, with four working watches I have to admit I have a watch collection.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
