movie review - Valley of the Dead

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2021.05.22

Set during the Spanish civil war, this is a zombie movie. The zombies come to us courtesy of the usual* Nazi scientists, and the conflict comes courtesy of the fact that the cast is pretty evenly devided between the two warring Spanish factions. This movie hits a note-perfect degree of seriousness that lets the actors indulge themselves a bit but doesn't take away from the fun. You're playing "who's going to survive this" twenty minutes into this thing.

I enjoyed it. Recommended.

*Thanks, "Doom". We had no idea what a legacy you'd have!

Capitalist production, therefore, only develops the techniques and the degree of combination of the social process of production by simultaneously undermining the original sources of all wealth – the soil and the worker.
