movie review - Heroes Wanted

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2021.05.20

This is a very uneven telling of the assembly of a "B" team of agents to track down a missing nuclear bomb. Teetering back and forth between satire and drama, it lurches and then slows and generally can't seem to pick a tone or direction. Some of the characters are engaging, and there are a few arresting scenes, but it mostly feels like a committee-driven affair that resulted in mediocrity.

Not recommended.

rand()m quote

Capitalist production, therefore, only develops the techniques and the degree of combination of the social process of production by simultaneously undermining the original sources of all wealth – the soil and the worker.

—Karl Marx
