time off for good behavior

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2017.04.05

I was a mid-level executive at employer of the past six years. It took a day to unwind all of the accounts I held for outside services, to terminate associations such as my representation of the company at the Canada Revenue Agency, and do things like informing an industry association committee head that I would be exiting that committee as a representative of the company.

I then spent the evening downtown attending a seminar with a professional association that I'll no longer need. I'd paid for the seminar out of my pocket, so it seemed like the right thing to do.

And such is the life of an exec with a small firm.
