to the zoo!

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2012.05.20

We did our yearly trek to the zoo today as part of our "all about Kenny" weekend - our way of making up for all of the baby focus of late.

It was fun. We saw a whoop of kangaroos hopping about in a graceful rhythm. They also had fat polar bears, white wolves, and a komodo dragon. If society falls apart I'm going nowhere near that place.

I managed to lose Kenny for a time, at the splash park. I found him hiding among the trees, thinking that I was still pursuing him with a hat full of cold water ten minutes after I'd lost track of him. Ah, four year olds: fun but crazed.

In our society, there seems a general rule that, the more obviously one's work benefits other people, the less one is likely to be paid for it.
