movie review - Amsterdam

This movie has a stellar cast in an interesting setting and era, conveying an important and timely message about power-made plutocrats destroying American democracy to suit their hunger for more wealth and power. The problem is that it tells instead of showing. And come to think of it, it takes far too long to get to the point. The main character spends way too much screen time mugging in exactly the same pose, and they try squeezing in too many subplots to make a coherent story.
I started watching this months ago on some streaming service, and decided to finally finish it when I saw it on the in-flight entertainment. I only recalled why I'd stopped when I got far enough into what's left that I might as well see it through.
Not recommended.
