this year ain't done with me yet!
This year has had its highlights, but on the whole it's been difficult. I started with a sustained flu, had an onerous months-long ordeal at work, came out of that with a knee injury, then had a really flat-out year involving among other things nine weeks away from home, and then there was the collision in October. Meanwhile, the world has been through some stuff. Now it seems 2025 is not done with me yet.
I went to the clinic this morning as I have at least on a monthly basis all year to get more of my migraine drugs. I got my scrip, went to the drug store, and was told, "it's been discontinued". By the end of three hours I'd been to the clinic twice and the drug store three times and came away with all of ten acetaminophen tablets and some codeine pouches. But without the main medicine it looks like '26 isn't going to be easy.
So, I need to further cut my triggers. I can't stop working, but I can stop drinking alcohol, so I will. I recently had a chat to a colleague who's just marked his first year drink free and he heavily recommended it even without chronic migraine. I should have realized it would come to this.
Three good things that happened today:
- I managed to navigate most of this mess in Japanese
- I was nihongo jyouzu'd at the clinic
- I tore down the Christmas tree, since my plans for a trip with The Girl were scotched anyway
Three reasons to be thankful:
- Maybe not relying on a caffeine-based acute medicine will be a good thing
- 2025 is just about over, no matter what
- I finally got that rusted mess of The Boy's bike
