hello, stoney
I run this system on FreeBSD, and the version I'm on is expiring. Today I rebuilt the server on the current OS plus the latest database software and so on in about four hours. One of which was trying to undo a manual screw up in the database where I'd loaded all the schemas into the non-data schema used to run the database software itself. I feel like I could probably do the whole thing in two hours next time. And that's if I do it this highly manual way again. I do want to see what I can accomplish with more automated tooling, time permitting. The transfer of the 35GB of photos alone took an hour, so I'm aware that there's a floor to this, but here's looking for a more automated repeat in two years time.
The server name this time is 'stoney'. I've been on innu the past nine months or so, and have previously used wendat, tlingit, micmac, haida, dogrib .. but also artisan, foe, and others. I've used several forms of Linux, two types of BSD, and Solaris. I've now shed PHP and Apache, so it's goodbye LAMP .. hello, NUMP?
