movie review - Tremors: Shrieker Island
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I don't recall having seen any of the Tremors movies except for the first, and I'm surprised to learn that this is the seventh. I did watch the TV series some years ago, so I was at least familiar with the trio of Graboid forms that appear or are referenced in this movie.
This movie's fine as long as it's the scientists and technicians (and Burt) against the monsters. The guy from Napoleon Dynamite made a good earnest (if awkward) counterpart to Burt's usual gruff self. But the entire sub-plot about the hunter billionaire who bred the new breed of monsters was really off. The story just didn't add up, as the characters didn't really seem to have sufficient motivation for their actions.
Not recommended.
So long, Burt.
(And RIP Fred Ward.)
