fixed thumbnail images

I've noticed that the thumbnail images on this site have started to become inexplicably uneven in size. I've modified them so that they should now be of the same size (at least the long side will be the same 216px) but I'm struck by the odd fact that things on "the web" could still be unstable in this way. Way to go, browser manufacturers.
At the same time, I've embarked on a process of culling photos because I now have 60,000 photos on the site and they take up more than 25GB of drive space (impossible to back up on a single BR-D disk) and that's a lot for photos that are largely unseen.
