farewell, Maebh
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I took our dear Maebh, the Kia Rondo, to the dealership to hand her over today. We got back 47% of our original purchase price, which I reckon is not bad for a nine year old car that we bought at around a year old with nearly 40,000 kilometers. We'd put nearly 50,000 kilometers on her in the eight years we had her.
I feel more like me, not having a car. Now I'm a bike guy, again. "What do you drive, Michael?" "A fifteen year old Panasonic bike."
I was also never was happy about having a depreciating asset rusting in the driveway. Never was happy having to fret about the thing getting scratched and dinging and the interior staying in reasonable shape. I certainly never loved driving.
