end of a Dockers belt

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Kokubunji, 2022.06.28

On the weekend our family had a water-balloon fight on our street. We'd done this on the weekend that was the Victoria Day long weekend by chance, so I'll name this the Canada Day water-fight. Anyway, I was wearing my shorts with an ancient belt and the belt didn't take well to getting wet. You see, it's so old that I can't actually place its purchase but I suspect it was in the late '90s, which could make it as old as 25 years. Thank you, Dockers, for a well-made belt!

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
