Mari's bought me a birthday gift of fishing. On Saturday we're leaving for the very farthest corner of Tokyo, way out in distant Chiba. There, my good-luck-fishing son and I will head out at 05:00 on Sunday, in pursuit of hata and rockfish and things of that nature.

For this purpose, I bought a new fishing rod to go with a jigging reel I'd bought last year when a friend and I were meant to go out. This, with a thoughtful gift card from Grandma!
