GPU prices

twenty-seven years and one million words

On October 9 I bought a video card for The Boy's PC for ¥28,000. The cost of the same card on the same site (Amazon) is now ¥60,000. The increase is due to a resurgent interest in cryptocurrency mining.
The Boy's card is by no means the latest word in GPU. But compared to the one I put in my now-twelve-year-old beater PC, it's future tech from the gods. But even that 30W card, designed specifically for installing in old PC's, has risen in price from ¥12,450 to ¥14,770 since Christmas. If you're relying on that ultra-low-end card to mine Etherium you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
