on CEO's and civil wars

twenty-seven years and one million words

A friend posted to slack:

"Andreas Liris, the CIO of Maple Leaf Foods told me that in a recent virtual meeting with other senior executives from all over North America, there is a strong belief that US will be entering a civil war after these elections. In other words, corporate America is considering this development as a serious possibility."

I have this persistent feeling that my life savings, denominated in CAD, are going to be a diminished. I mentioned this to another friend, who said.

"Toxic finance is everywhere these days. All we can do is wait for the inevitable crisis and try to weather it. I have a reasonable amount saved for retirement but half expect most of it to be wiped out in some sort of crash."

For a long time I was very bitter that the people who controlled the means of anybody ever hearing my songs were never gonna play them. They only favored music that I specifically and particularly hated, and I wanted them dead. Suddenly, there was another avenue. I started hearing my stuff coming out of bars and then it started to happen little by little -- a movie song here or a TV ad there.
