porting a home phone

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kawasaki, 2020.05.20

After writing about the VPN thing the other day, it's occurred to me that we could keep our Toronto phone number simply by bringing the tiny VOIP device and the old handset with us to Tokyo. I'm not sure what utility that might have, but we pay something like $2/month for it. Maybe making cheap local calls? Answering the phone if someone from the government needs to be in touch? Not sure....

rand()m quote

It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
