I'm thinking of writing some laws of synthetic intelligence into my story. My "synthetic intelligence" is not the same as "artificial intelligence", which can mean anything as trivial as connecting a city's traffic camera to control its traffic lights according to simple rules. It goes beyond "machine learning" tricks like unsupervised learning, which to be honest are at this point a lot of sizzle and not a lot of steak. So far, I've come up with:
A synthetic intelligence:
- cannot rewrite or reproduce its own programming
- cannot access an internet
- shall undergo a period of maturity training
