just got paid today

Well I just got paid today, got me a pocket full of change.
My first paycheck since the end of October. I suppose I've been through worse periods of unemployment. (Much worse.)
I'm also now some days into my second month with the company. Another 7-8 weeks and I'll be virtually unfireable. Which something tells me is going to be a factor.
After confirming that I'd been paid, I asked Mari to help me click my way through my Japanese bank's "English" process to obtain a type of card that's used like a credit card but you load it with a set amount of cash in advance. It doesn't have access to your bank account. I reckon for day to day expenses like groceries and so on it's perfect.
After that the day went sharply downhill. Among the tsunami of email awaiting me was some very bad news about an incident that had occurred. As the day wore on it turned out that one of my allies was being saddled with an absurd amount of work to start the recovery. Happily, one of my staff had recently worked with that ally on something similar and I'd be able to loan him to the cause. For my part it ran to an eleven hour day again. My VP is pushing back against my attempt at saving my employee, and it turns out that the critically-important DBA that we thought we'd saved is now not staying. We've been bleeding staff and management (six directors in 2-3 years!), I really don't know how they expect things to change.
Also, it's 04/20. I was reminded of the guys with whom I was most recently working in Canada. I know what they got up to today. Funny to think that a bunch of guys who use "cannabis" on a daily basis thought they could launch a tech start-up.
