a memorable d&d session

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2017.02.21

We played d&d on the weekend, and it was a memorable session - turns out they heard "white tower" when I was saying "wight tower". They've seized the priceless sword they went in for, but they haven't faced the boss yet. As with so many things in life, getting out is always harder.

The kids played fairly well, but once again decided on some things that introduced odd delays. Such as deciding to chance the dragons that were searching for them to stop to rebuild a rotted out 100-year-old sailboat. They also did well with the first of several puzzles they have to face.

And it's good they picked up the sword with a massive bonus against necromancers. There's a lich in play.

rand()m quote

For a long time I was very bitter that the people who controlled the means of anybody ever hearing my songs were never gonna play them. They only favored music that I specifically and particularly hated, and I wanted them dead. Suddenly, there was another avenue. I started hearing my stuff coming out of bars and then it started to happen little by little -- a movie song here or a TV ad there.
