movie review - Girlfriend's Day

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2017.02.18

There's a variant of the film noir where the detective is accidental. So it is with "Girlfriend's Day", in which a has-been greeting card writer is drawn into a murder mystery and thrown in with the criminal underworld. This thing has good pacing and an even tone and good characters. It's only an hour long, a made-for-TV sort of thing (the term now basically being meaningless).

Recommended.
