movie review - Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2017.10.22

This is a movie telling of a book I have read to my son. Movie remakes of books are often problematic, but I think that despite the choppy plot they've managed to maintain a fairly consistent tone and anyone who's had the misfortune of reading my mini-reviews knows, I put a lot of stock in that. What I liked about this is the relative novelty of the story and the line that it walks between teenage stuff and plot that will appeal to all ages.

Recommended.

rand()m quote

Society is indeed a contract... [the state] is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue, and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are living, those who are dead, and those who are to be born.

—Edmund Burke
