filthy March cycling

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2016.03.08

Crowds of cyclists are already out, some two months earlier than they would have 5 years ago – thanks to infrastructure! This is what happens when you set aside some lanes and allow people to make some choices.

And what's not to love about riding at this time of year. You'll get road filth on your face from the cowboys in front of you running without a splash guard, but the weather's cool, the drivers aren't behaving like hotdogs, and it's still that time when the winter's lost artifacts are emerging from the snow.

P.S. Already resuming my collection of pics of cars parked in our cycle lanes. Pointless, perhaps, but in aggregate it's really something to see.

rand()m quote

It has always seemed strange to me...The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.
