today I "biked to work"

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2014.05.26

I joined Cycle Toronto's "bike to work" thing today for the first time; it was fun, there were hundreds of cyclists involved. Yes, it was slow and awkward and they held us up for a media thing at Yonge and Bloor that was a bit perplexing for those of us so far back from the action with the TV crews. But it was nice to participate now that I'm a member (and a volunteer).

rand()m quote

It has always seemed strange to me...The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.
