new beater watch

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2014.03.06

For quite a while, I found myself torn between a rugged no-worry every day watch and something more expensive. Then it occurred to me; I could have one of each, and not try to have everything in one watch. Hence my purchase of a Casio MDV-106-1A. I am going to have to replace the rubber strap immediately.

[I went back and edited this entry to add a pic taken four years later. I've been well pleased with this watch, though the crystal was so easily scratched I wound up having it replaced for about $30 – an absurd amount to spend on a $50 watch!]

rand()m quote

For a long time I was very bitter that the people who controlled the means of anybody ever hearing my songs were never gonna play them. They only favored music that I specifically and particularly hated, and I wanted them dead. Suddenly, there was another avenue. I started hearing my stuff coming out of bars and then it started to happen little by little -- a movie song here or a TV ad there.
