northern watersnake

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2013.06.22

We took in some sights around the Niagara region today. One of these was Balls Falls. On our way up the stream I spotted a snake in the creek. Turns out that the Niagara area is the norther extent of the range of the Northern water snake. They're beautiful snakes, too, with bands of gold and silver.

Ken was delighted!

Remove everything that has no relevance to the story. If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there.
