movie review - Crazy, Stupid Love

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2013.01.25

This is a tale of a couple who divorce after the spark is lost in their marriage. The wife's had an affair and they split. The story follows the husband, who meets a dashing young man who's a pro at the singles scene at the local bar. The younger man shows him the ropes and soon he's playing the field. It's kind of .. gross, really. A twist occurs when the younger man meets the divorcee's daughter. The older man doesn't take this well, and we're off to the races.

This thing has a flawless cast but it somehow left me cold. I get that people live like this but the level of self-absorption is too much. I'm not really sure what the point is, to be honest. Insincere protestations of love, and everything's going to be okay?

Not recommended.

rand()m quote

A civilization is a heritage of beliefs, customs, and knowledge slowly accumulated in the course of centuries, elements difficult at times to justify by logic, but justifying themselves as paths when they lead somewhere, since they open up for man his inner distance.
