Woodend

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

St. Catharines, 2012.10.07

Today we went for a stroll in the small forest of Woodend conservation area, just outside St. Catharines. The Autumn colors were in excellent form, even with some Maples having been turned purple by what I assume was a particularly cold blast. Not a long trip, but certainly photogenic. Naturally, I was shooting black and white.

At dinner, we were joined by Chika, our friend from Japan. She introduced us to her husband and she cooed at The Girl and laughed at The Boy's antics. It was fun.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
