so long, MBA idea

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2012.08.24

Once again, I've looked at doing an MBA. And once again, I've decided not to attempt it.

The workload might well be an issue at this stage in my life but frankly the real problem is the payout for the investment. At $60,000 for a decent program (let alone $80,000 - $90,000 for a "recognized" school at least on the Canadian level) I would have to carry quite a burden of debt and I know plenty of MBA's who aren't earning wages that would justify such a burden.

I have, however, come away with some new plans. It looks like I will undertake a second designation in the internal audit space. It won't be cheap either, for what it is, but it would recognize the work I've been doing.

rand()m quote

Work is about a daily search for meaning as well as daily bread; for recognition as well as cash; for astonishment rather than torpor; in short for a sort of life, rather than a monday-to-friday sort of dying.
