not so sweet hitch-hiker

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2012.07.17

As I rounded the final corner on my ride in, today, a young fellow on a bike appeared next to me and said, "Thanks for the ride, bro."

Puzzled, I parked my bike and realized that I'd noticed a strange shimmy in the bike as I'd braked that last time. He'd grabbed ahold of the rear of the bike's rack so that I could tow him.

On what is one of the hottest and wettest mornings of the year. Yeah, no problem, "bro".

Tsk, children!

Speaking of hot, my mum sends word that the last 12 months, from July 2011 to June 2012, have been the hottest year on record in Toronto by 3°C. That's pretty hot, and it's no wonder that all of the parks are brown and dusty. Let's hope it doesn't last another year.
