what do they do

On top of the building next to where I work, there is a large patio used by the condo-tenants to lounge around all day.
They're mostly young, fit, and wear next to nothing as they soak up the sun, have barbecues, and on one distracting occasion get down to a bikini and wiggle around in a hoola-hoop.
It eventually occurred to me to wonder what these people actually do for a living. And if it's possible to embark on such a lifestyle when you're already in your forties.
