新年快樂

twenty-seven years and one million words

We went to the home of some friends to celebrate the Chinese new year this afternoon.
Fifty people were packed into our friends' new home, 24 of whom were children. It was a bit rowdy. We made dumplings and told each other "新年快樂". Which seems similar to the Japanese "恭賀新年" although I've only ever said "明けましておめでとう" and even managed to forget that this year. Anyway, it's a nice change of pace to have some adult conversation about something other than work.
All of this social activity, you'd think we were living somewhere you'd want to be outdoors instead of a snowy and very gloomy Toronto in January.
