so this is sleet

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2012.02.24

I'd always taken 'sleet' to mean 'freezing rain' but it turns out there's a different kind, and that's what we have today.

It's simultaneous rain and snow. And it's a lousy form of weather to combat—too wet for scarves and mitts, too cold and snowy for an umbrella. Sometimes I miss Tokyo.

rand()m quote

Remove everything that has no relevance to the story. If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there.

—Anton Chekhov
