touring the changing colours

We hopped into our rental car and drove to Bala today on a tour of the autumn colours.
Bala's a picturesque sort of place with a waterfall, a beautiful river, and lots of dramatic rocks and so on. The whole point was to show off this part of the country to our guest at one of its most beautiful times. The first two hours, which made us doubt our plan, were spent under worsening rain. But the rest went quite nicely. Even our lunch was a hit; we ate at a small restaurant in Gravenhurst that I'd been to ten years ago; it's called Rombos and the food was surprisingly good for an unassuming shop in a small town.
