home again, home again

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2011.08.12

We got home this evening by train: I am so glad we didn't drive. In addition to saving us a lot of grief and exhaustion, we've saved ourselves perhaps $600.

It looks like another of the "baby" loaches has disappeared. The third looks quite healthy, but a one-in-three survival rate's not great.

rand()m quote

Remove everything that has no relevance to the story. If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there.

—Anton Chekhov
