a town in the news

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2010.06.10

A small town in Canada is making the news due to the suspicious purchase of a lot of ammonia nitrate. I know that town well.

My family has lived in Jordan (and adjacent Jordan Station) off and on for generations. Half the names in the local cemetery are from my family. The doctor who tended to my mum when she was pregnant had his office there. And most recently, my grandparents on my dad's side (the German immigrants) happened to retire to the same town.

Pity that it's the scene of a suspicious purchase of fertilizer that can be used to build bombs!

Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power.
