twenty-seven years and one million words

Today I spent fifteen minutes fixing the keyboard on Mari's laptop. Somehow it got itself prised loose.

Can't imagine how. The boy was in the vicinity and one of his videos was playing on the laptop at the time. All highly circumstantial I know, but yesterday I caught him hammering on the laptop with a weighted rubber ball on a spring-metal handle that I use to "massage" my back. That had left the area around the laptop's touchpad somewhat dented, and it also established Kenny's hostile attitude toward the laptop (can't blame him, it's a Dell).

Happily, I managed to re-assembled the four parts that made up the key. None were smashed, against all odds, and after two tries I managed to sort out which hooked into what and got it working as well as it ever did.

Not so happily, Mari says it's now time for a television. The blessed TV-free state that I've enjoyed for the past 4.5 years has come to a close.

rand()m quote

It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
