mobile phone chargers

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Tokyo, 2010.02.15

In following with my current research into the mobile phone platform, I've come across some bad news.

Chargers use energy even without a phone attached! I've now unplugged our charger, which for years has been plugged in and apparently using electricity 7x24. What a stupid design.

It's all a thing of the past, though. According to this source the current era of dedicated phone chargers is a thing of the past. The vendors are moving to micro-USB as a standard charger. A fine idea!

Now what to do with all of the chargers we've got piling up....
