more potty progress

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2009.12.18

Things had been moving nicely with Kenny's potty training. And then he back-slid.

He sat on the potty, announced that he didn't need to use it, and got up. As I was putting the thing back in its place, he peed on the carpet in the hallway behind me. Sigh.

But that was Tuesday, and since then things have gone quite well. Guaging the timing correctly seems to be the key. In addition to the pre-bathtime potty visit, I now give him a while after getting out of bed in the morning, then take him in. This seems to work fairly well. There's also a visit after he gets hom from daycare, but I'm not sure it's necessary.

rand()m quote

Selfish leaders increase risk by placing themselves first. It's a fundamental mistake to assume that what is good for us personally is mutually exclusive to what is good for everyone. That kind of zero-sum game is for cowards, and in the end, we all pay the price for this type of latent, toxic leadership.
