movie review - Body of Lies

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2009.11.17

This is a spy flick set in the Middle East. The main character creates a fake terrorist group to drum up support for a thing he wants to do, principally because his support from Langley hasn't been there and his relationship with his superiors has fallen apart. The character's strategy blows up in his face. He learns his lesson along the way and unfortunately everyone else suffers in the process as well.

I found myself skipping through the action sequences which felt tacked on, something I do when the plot is losing me. I'd be surprised if I watched a full 90 minutes of this.

Not recommended.
