gecko!

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2008.09.09

I found a gecko in our bedroom tonight. I don't know what that says for the state of the insect population in our home (we also have spiders), but it was actually quite a challenge getting the little fellow out again.

The trick, it seems, was to use a drinking cup and a piece of cardboard. I got the cup over the poor little thing, then slid the cardboard in beneath it. As the thing was on a carpet when I caught it, this was a bit tricky. I hope the thing is out there somewhere, ravenously consuming insects.

I actually wouldn't mind sharing a home with a gecko. In Fiji, where they're essentially a dominant species, they were fun to watch. All they seemed to do was eat bugs, squabble playfully and make little geckos.

You have to choose between trusting to the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of the honesty and intelligence of the members of the Government. And, with due respect for these gentlemen, I advise you, as long as the Capitalist system lasts, to vote for gold.
