back to the city

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2007.09.18

We headed into town first thing, and did some laundry.

Then it was the usual race on highway 400 down to the city. We got to the place where the ring was to be ready, but found that the ring was too small by a whole size. Disappointed, we left the fellow with his plan to have it fixed for the next day, and took my mum back to Laurie's place. Then we checked into our hotel (not the same one we'd had before, mercifully, but the Best Western Roehampton, which suited us quite a bit better) and started making plans for the night.

These involved my brother, who had just arrived, and some sushi. The sushi turned out to be a bit disappointing, but after that we got downtown to see the gang for drinks. It was a three-year reunion for Ken, Charlie and Jon.

A creative person would prefer their music to be stolen and enjoyed than ignored. This is the dilemma for every creative soul: he or she would prefer to starve and be heard than to eat well and be ignored.
