dinner with the Macleods

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2005.05.04

Tonight Jon and I went to Gord's place for dinner. He made a meal of grilled grouper with a side of Bok-choy panfried with garlic butter. It was delicious!

Unsurprisingly, I forgot to take an antihistamine before heading over, and started reacting to his cat right off the bat. I got Gord to take me over to the drug store, and I got some Claritin. Usually, when the eyes watering, sneezing, and wheezing has already begun the pills are of little help. Much to my delight, the symptoms cleared up quite a bit.

We went on into the night, drinking and arguing. It was just like old times.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
