a fine day

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2005.01.21

Today I had a rather good day, aside from my girlfriend's big thing about getting the new job.

I met with my aunt Laurie, and we went to look at laptops. Like me, she's a novelist. And like me, she likes to work on her stories wherever she can. So, she's been interested in getting some wee thing to take to the libraries and cafes and anywhere else she goes. We went to Laptop Closeout and had a look around. They have some factory-rebuilt stuff, and great prices.

Then I took a couple of chapters from my novel to the reference library and worked on them. I'm getting close to completing, at long, long last, the fourth draft of the beast, and with only a few bits I'm really starting to like what I've done.

Then I went and had an overpriced burger at the Rebel House, and picked up the laptop I'll be using next week at my new short-term contracting gig.
