my cheapskate employer

twenty-eight years and a million words

Halifax, 2004.05.09

My girlfriend's gone. I spent the day in a bit of stunned haze. Been feeling like I might have a bit of bug coming on.

I went into the office, read email for 90 minutes, and hated the 29ÂșC air temperature. I can't understand why Keane can't get the A/C working in the Halifax ADC. It's just bizarre. With the carpet tiles coming up, the bare walls, the hot air, and the lack of real cubicles, it's hardly the most comfortable environment I've worked in. But I guess it's cheap to maintain.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
