Firefly - TV's best sci-fi

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Halifax, 2004.01.24

I spent most of the day, today, watching the full "Firefly" series. For televion, it sure was a hell of a thing. Great characters, good stories, amazing sets. It's everything that science fiction should be (or should have been) - the very opposite for Star Trek's pointless pontificating and Star Wars's overproduction.

Work is about a daily search for meaning as well as daily bread; for recognition as well as cash; for astonishment rather than torpor; in short for a sort of life, rather than a monday-to-friday sort of dying.
