Halifax weather hell

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Halifax, 2003.12.15

This morning—when I had appointments to see some four apartments—all Hell broke loose with the weather.

I found myself driving around in some of the worst conditions I have ever seen. Sleet, snow, freezing rain, rain, flooding, rear-wheel-drive cars skidding all over the place....

When the day was done I'd seen six places. Most of the 1-bedroom places I'd wanted to see - even the ones I'd arranged to see by appointment - were gone. They go pretty quickly, apparently, because of all of the University students.

In any event, I've applied for a place and hope to hear from them tomorrow.

rand()m quote

For a long time I was very bitter that the people who controlled the means of anybody ever hearing my songs were never gonna play them. They only favored music that I specifically and particularly hated, and I wanted them dead. Suddenly, there was another avenue. I started hearing my stuff coming out of bars and then it started to happen little by little — a movie song here or a TV ad there.
