can't cook lentils with rice

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.08.19

I went to the gym this evening - I usually go in the morning, but with the power outage I hadn't been since Wednesday. When I got home, I decided to make myself something healthy, so I decided on brown rice and lentils. It seemed that both required about 45 minutes of cooking, so I set them to boiling. When I checked on them, after about 30 minutes, I found that the rice was well cooked but that the lentils had turned to goo. I guess I'll have to go back to cooking them seperately. Which is a shame, because by cooking them in one pot all I'd need to do was to drain them, add some hot sauce, and eat.

rand()m quote

I'm constantly amazed at how difficult it is to break free of the straitjacket of the immediately urgent.
