a busy day in t.o.

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.12.12

Whew, a busy day. Where do I start.

First of all, I did some more digging and found another place in Halifax that I want to see on Monday.

Then I bought a new PC. $1220 for a top-of-the-line AMD 3000+. Which is about what I paid for my first PC - a 8086 which ran at 10MHz, had a monochrome monitor, and had no hard drive. It's astonishing how PC prices continue to fall as the performance and features of the things continues to advance at such a pace.

In the evening, Tracey and I went to dinner with my father and step-mother, who came down from Calgary to see me and meet her.

rand()m quote

Remove everything that has no relevance to the story. If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there.

—Anton Chekhov
