saying goodbyes

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.12.11

Today I continued with my preparations to leave town. This included a quick lunch with Shahed and Rod downtown.

We talked about all the usual ill-advised public restaurant stuff and parted with plans to meet once again before I leave. I spent much of the rest of the day looking for vacant rental places in Halifax that I'll see when I go there on Monday.

For dinner, my girlfriend and I met with Stephanie Charette from my days at Trimark, and her long-time boyfriend Brian Kremer. Those two had had me over with Charlie back in February, and we all got on like long lost pals.

The fellow who served us at the Keg was from Halifax, and when he learned that I was heading that way, he offered to have his mum's friend get in touch. She's a real estate agent down there and knows the city. He thinks she might be able to help me find a place.

rand()m quote

I feel fortunate that I enjoyed the blandishments of modernity. I had hip replacement and root canal. I was able to travel on airplanes. I was able to take cheap food for granted. I went to the movies. I enjoyed rock 'n' roll. And now I'm ready to move on.
