movie review - Harry (with a friend like...)

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Calgary, 2002.04.27

This is a slightly odd French film about a young man and his family and a killer from his past. Our man is a married father of three and a teacher, but once had aspirations to write. The killer is a classmate who the hero can't remember (even though the hero's son and father both recognise him immediately when they turn up and meet the man). The killer seems hell-bent on setting our man back on his writing career, and eventually does so. At great cost (and bodycount).

I don't know how someone came up with this plot but I'm glad they did. It's an intriguing and engaging movie.

Recommended.
